PIERRE VIVIANITE – ITS HISTORY

Vivianite takes its name from John Henry Vivian, a 19th-century British politician who discovered it. Vivian was involved in the copper trade and owned his own mines, and it was in one of these, located in Cornwall, England, that the crystal was first identified. The matte, colorless prisms extracted from the earth produce green, blue and even black reflections on contact with air, provided there is sufficient exposure to oxygen.

Although the discovery of Vivianite is relatively recent, its use dates back to ancient Greece, between the 4th and 5th centuries BC, where it was ground to produce a bluish Pigment. Today, this practice is still used in various artistic techniques, such as fresco, tempera, oil painting and encaustic. Although Vivianite does not have great covering capacity, it is still used as a source of color in various cultures around the world, including England, Russia, Ukraine, the USA, Africa and Japan.

VIVIANITE STONE – ITS ORIGIN AND COMPOSITION

Vivianite is a secondary mineral with the chemical formula Fe3(PO4)3.8(H2O). Its crystals, which weigh no more than thirty grams, have a maximum length of 20 centimeters. Vivianite has various origins, including the alteration of iron present in the surface layers of soil and the phosphates of this mineral in magmatic rocks. It is also found in phosphorus-rich sedimentary zones, often associated with bivalve shells and fossilized bones, as well as in coal mines.

.

Vivianite crystallization follows a crystalline monoclinic system, giving it a specific symmetry. Its refractive index is 1.62, which characterizes its interaction with light. Its hardness ranges from 1.5 to 2 on the Mohs scale, making it sensitive to scratches. Because of these properties and its unstable color in contact with oxygen, Vivianite is rarely used in jewelry. It must therefore be handled with care.

VIVIANITE STONE – VERTIES AND PROPERTIES

This type of crystal is often used for distance healing, regardless of its size or weight. It enhances intuitive abilities, perception and vision, enabling theraPists to better understand problems and treat them effectively. This crystal also promotes openness to others.

VIVIANITY ON THE PSYCHOLOGICAL LEVEL

Vivianite promotes communication and openness, not only towards others, but also towards oneself. This crystal can be a guide in life, offering advice on how to make things more meaningful and intense. TheraPists can combine Vivianite with other stones to enhance their effects. The heart chakra is the main chakra concerned by Vivianite, which can help reveal hidden or unrecognized feelings. It can be used to strengthen the relationship with the divine and higher virtues such as compassion, love and peace.

Vivianite is particularly suited to the astrological signs of Sagittarius, Libra and ScorPio. However, to preserve its abilities intact, it’s important to regularly purify the stone by immersing it in demineralized water without adding salt. To recharge it with energy, we recommend exposing it to the indirect rays of the moon or placing it in contact with a cluster of Quartz, rather than exposing it directly to the sun.

VIVIANITY ON THE PHYSICAL LEVEL

From a physical point of view, Vivianite has a toning action and develops the musculature, increasing the body’s overall vitality. This can lead to complete healing, both physically and morally, after a traumatic ePisode, making it a useful stone for convalescents.

GREEN VIVIANITE STONE – CLEAN AND RECHARGE

Vivianite can be cleaned by rinsing it under running water for a few minutes, or by placing it in distilled water for several hours. It can also be cleaned by resting it on a bed of amethyst or quartz crystals. To recharge it, place it in the sun for a few hours or on a cluster of quartz crystals. You can also use the visualization method by holding it in your hand and imagining pure, positive energy filling it.

WHERE DOES THE NAME VIVIANITE COME FROM?

The name “vivianite” was given to this stone in honor of English mineralogist John Henry Vivian, who discovered the stone in 1817 in Cornwall, England. The stone’s scientific name is “Cornish vivianite”. The word “vivianite” derives from Vivian’s surname and was proposed by the German chemist E. F. Glocker.

WHICH CHAKRA DOES VIVIANITY ACT ON?

Vivianite is primarily associated with the throat chakra, also known as the Vishuddha chakra in Sanskrit. This chakra is linked to communication, self-expression, creativity and the ability to listen to and understand others.
