Precautions for the maintenance and cleaning of crystal crafts

  • Crystal is brittle, so be careful to prevent heavy pressure, fall, high temperature, strong alkali and strong acid. When moving crystal, it is best to wear soft cotton gloves to avoid oil stains on your hands from contaminating the collection. When lifting crystal items, do not grab the top or extension of the crystal ornaments, but hold the base or the entire body of the crystal. If you find dust on the crystal collection, do not use a feather brush, but use a soft and fluff-free cloth to gently brush away the dust. Do not brush hard to avoid wearing the crystal.
  • If there are oil stains or fingerprints left on the crystal vessel, you can wash it with lukewarm soapy water and then rinse it with clean water. Avoid repeated washing in hot water or cleaning agent. For cut crystal ornaments, the cut part can be gently cleaned with a toothbrush. If there are stains that are difficult to wash off, you can cut a lemon and apply some salt and gently scrub it. You can also use a few drops of vinegar with salt to wipe it. For example, when storing crystal vases, place a mat on the shelf in advance and place the crystal vase in a sealed glass cabinet or display box to reduce the chance of dust accumulation on the crystal surface and reduce human contact to avoid damage.
  • Do not place crystal crafts too close together, otherwise if one is touched, the others will also fall due to the domino effect. Make sure the cabinet is stable and reliable and not easy to shake.
  • If you want to store crystal crafts for a long time, do not use foam paper or plastic bags. Such packaging bags will increase the temperature and cause damage to the crystal. At the same time, never store crystals in attics or cellars to prevent them from being placed in harsh environments.
